Program Summary

Crop Protection is a field of study that focuses on safeguarding crops from pests, diseases, and environmental stresses to ensure high yields and food security. It involves understanding the biology and management of insects, fungi, bacteria, viruses, weeds, and other factors that can negatively impact agricultural production. The course covers various methods of crop protection, including chemical, biological, cultural, and integrated pest management (IPM) approaches. Students learn about the proper use of pesticides, the impact of climate change on pest dynamics, and the role of biotechnology in developing resistant crop varieties. Emphasis is placed on sustainable practices that minimize environmental harm while maximizing efficiency in pest and disease control. The course also explores regulatory frameworks, safety measures, and modern technologies such as precision agriculture and remote sensing to monitor and manage crop threats effectively. Through practical and theoretical knowledge, students develop the skills needed to identify, prevent, and mitigate crop losses, making them valuable contributors to the agricultural industry.
