Local Government and Development Studies is an academic course that focuses on the structures, functions, and processes of local governance, as well as strategies for sustainable development. It examines the role of local governments in policy-making, service delivery, and community development, emphasizing decentralization, governance, and public administration. The course explores how local governments interact with national and international institutions, addressing issues such as public finance, urban and rural planning, and participatory governance.  

It also covers key development theories and policies, highlighting the impact of governance on economic growth, poverty reduction, and social welfare. Students learn about the principles of good governance, accountability, and transparency in public administration. The course incorporates case studies and real-world applications, helping students understand the challenges and opportunities in local governance and development.
