Program Summary

Estate management is a multidisciplinary course that focuses on the administration, valuation, development, and maintenance of land and property. It involves studying the legal, economic, financial, and social aspects of real estate to ensure the efficient use and management of land and built assets. The course covers topics such as property valuation, real estate law, building construction, urban and regional planning, property investment, and facility management.  

 

Students learn how to assess property values, analyze market trends, and make informed decisions regarding the buying, selling, leasing, and development of real estate. It also includes aspects of land tenure systems, property taxation, and estate agency practices. The course integrates principles of economics, business, and environmental sustainability to ensure responsible land use and property development.  

 

Career opportunities in estate management include roles such as estate surveyor, property manager, real estate consultant, facilities manager, and valuation officer. Professionals in this field work with government agencies, private real estate firms, financial institutions, and corporate organizations to manage, develop, and optimize real estate assets. Estate management plays a crucial role in economic development by ensuring the proper utilization of land and properties for residential, commercial, and industrial purposes.

Requirements

UNIVERSITY MATRICULTION EXAMINATION (UME) Candidates seeking admission through the University Matriculation Examinations (UME) organized by Joint Admission and matriculation Board (JAMB) must in addition to passing the entrance examination at the University specified level, possess the Senior Secondary School Certificate of Education (SSCE) or its equivalent with credit passes in at least five subjects which must include Mathematics, English Language, Economics and any other two from Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Fine Arts, Technical Drawing, Agricultural Science and Building Construction, in not more than two sittings. DIRECT ENTRY (D/E) Holders of degrees in related disciplines or HND Estate Management would be admitted to Part II and holders of Higher School Certificate, GCE “A” level and OND in Estate Management would be admitted to Part II provided they meet the above entry requirement specified in 2.1 above and take remedial courses form Part I programme as may be recommended by the Department.
