Program Summary

Home economics education is a multidisciplinary course that focuses on equipping individuals with the knowledge and skills needed for effective home and family management. It covers a wide range of topics, including nutrition, food preparation, clothing and textiles, budgeting, consumer education, child development, and interior decoration. The course emphasizes practical skills that contribute to personal well-being, family stability, and community development.

Students learn about meal planning, healthy eating habits, and food safety to promote proper nutrition and overall health. They also gain financial literacy by understanding budgeting, saving, and responsible consumer behavior. Clothing and textile studies involve fabric selection, garment construction, and clothing care, helping individuals make informed choices about their wardrobe. Additionally, aspects of home management, including organization, cleaning, and energy conservation, are explored to enhance efficiency in daily life.

Beyond practical skills, home economics education fosters problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities. It prepares individuals for personal and professional roles, as it includes elements of entrepreneurship, hospitality, and caregiving.
