Program Summary

History and International Studies is an interdisciplinary course that explores the past and its influence on global affairs. It examines historical events, patterns, and developments across different periods and regions, focusing on how they shape contemporary societies and international relations. The course integrates political, economic, social, and cultural perspectives to provide a broad understanding of human interactions over time.

Students analyze historical narratives, conflicts, diplomacy, and governance structures, gaining insight into how nations interact and influence each other. The study of international organizations, treaties, and global policies is central to the curriculum, helping students understand the mechanisms that guide international cooperation and conflict resolution. The course also delves into regional histories, colonial legacies, globalization, and geopolitical strategies, emphasizing the role of historical knowledge in addressing modern global challenges.

Critical thinking, research, and analytical skills are key components, enabling students to evaluate sources, construct arguments, and interpret historical and political trends. With an emphasis on both past and present international affairs, the course prepares students for careers in diplomacy, academia, government, international organizations, journalism, and other fields requiring expertise in global issues and historical analysis.
