Program Summary

Petroleum engineering is a field of engineering that focuses on the exploration, extraction, production, and management of oil and natural gas resources. It combines principles from various disciplines, including geology, physics, chemistry, and mathematics, to develop efficient and sustainable methods for hydrocarbon recovery. The course covers topics such as reservoir engineering, drilling engineering, production engineering, and petrophysics, all of which are essential for understanding subsurface formations and optimizing oil and gas extraction.

Students learn how to design and operate drilling rigs, analyze reservoir behavior, and implement enhanced oil recovery techniques. They also study the economic and environmental aspects of the petroleum industry, ensuring responsible resource management and adherence to safety and environmental regulations. Modern petroleum engineering integrates digital technologies, such as artificial intelligence and data analytics, to improve exploration and production efficiency.

A degree in petroleum engineering opens career opportunities in oil and gas companies, consulting firms, research institutions, and government agencies. Engineers in this field work in various environments, including offshore platforms, drilling sites, and corporate offices. With the global energy transition, petroleum engineers are also exploring alternative energy sources and sustainable practices to balance energy demands with environmental concerns.
