Program Summary

Archaeology and anthropology as a course explore human societies, cultures, and their development over time. Archaeology focuses on the material remains of past civilizations, including artifacts, architecture, and environmental data, to understand how people lived, adapted, and interacted with their surroundings. It involves excavation, analysis, and interpretation of historical evidence to reconstruct ancient ways of life. Anthropology, on the other hand, is the broader study of humans, encompassing biological, cultural, linguistic, and social aspects. It examines human evolution, cultural diversity, traditions, and behaviors across different societies, both past and present. The course typically combines theoretical learning with practical fieldwork, laboratory analysis, and ethnographic research. Students engage with topics such as human origins, cultural heritage, societal structures, and the impact of globalization. By integrating scientific and humanistic approaches, archaeology and anthropology provide insights into human history, identity, and the connections between past and present civilizations.
