Program Summary

Agricultural Economics is a field of study that applies economic principles to the production, distribution, and consumption of agricultural goods and services. It focuses on how resources such as land, labor, capital, and technology are allocated within the agricultural sector to maximize efficiency and productivity. The course explores various economic theories and their applications in farming, agribusiness, and rural development, helping students understand market structures, price determination, and the role of government policies in agriculture.

The study also includes topics such as farm management, agricultural finance, food supply chains, and international trade in agricultural products. It examines how global trends, climate change, and technological advancements affect food production and rural economies. By analyzing case studies and real-world scenarios, students learn how to solve practical problems related to food security, resource sustainability, and rural livelihoods.

Agricultural Economics is an interdisciplinary course, combining elements of economics, business, environmental science, and policy-making. It prepares students for careers in agribusiness, government agencies, research institutions, and international organizations, equipping them with the skills to analyze data, make informed decisions, and contribute to the development of sustainable agricultural systems.
