Program Summary

Quantity surveying is a discipline within the construction and infrastructure industry that focuses on cost management, project estimation, and financial control. It involves the study of construction economics, contracts, procurement, and project management to ensure that construction projects are completed within budget while maintaining quality and efficiency. Students in this field learn how to assess project costs, manage resources, and minimize financial risks for clients, contractors, and stakeholders.

The course covers subjects such as building technology, construction law, contract administration, and cost estimation. It also includes measurement techniques, tendering procedures, and value engineering to optimize project expenditures. Quantity surveyors play a key role in preparing bills of quantities, conducting feasibility studies, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.

Practical training and internships are often incorporated into the curriculum to provide hands-on experience in real construction projects. Graduates can work in various sectors, including construction firms, consulting agencies, government agencies, and property development companies. With expertise in financial planning and cost analysis, quantity surveyors contribute significantly to the success of construction projects by balancing costs and quality while adhering to contractual and legal obligations.
