Program Summary

Architecture as a course is an interdisciplinary field that combines art, science, and technology to design and construct buildings and spaces. It focuses on the creative and functional aspects of designing structures while considering aesthetics, sustainability, and cultural influences. Students in this field learn about architectural history, theory, and contemporary design principles. They also explore construction materials, structural systems, environmental considerations, and urban planning.

The course typically involves a balance between theoretical knowledge and practical application. Students engage in design studios where they develop architectural projects, create detailed drawings, and use digital tools like computer-aided design (CAD) software and building information modeling (BIM). Technical skills such as structural analysis, building technology, and environmental sustainability are essential components of the curriculum.

Architecture also requires a strong understanding of human needs and behavior, as it influences how spaces are used and experienced. The course often includes subjects related to psychology, sociology, and cultural studies to help students design spaces that are functional and meaningful. Legal and ethical aspects, including building codes and zoning laws, are also an important part of the training.

Students in architecture develop problem-solving skills, creativity, and technical expertise. The course is rigorous and often requires long hours of project work, model-making, and critical analysis. Graduates can pursue careers in architectural firms, urban planning, interior design, landscape architecture, and construction management. Some may specialize in sustainable design, heritage conservation, or digital fabrication.

Overall, architecture is a dynamic and challenging course that prepares students to shape the built environment, considering both artistic expression and practical functionality.
