The philosophy underlying the Discipline of Sociology is to prepare students to be able to apply the knowledge acquired to solve personal and societal practical problems; and to produce graduates who are imbued with the ability to understand, critically analyze and positively contribute to the ever-changing social world around them. In addition, the Department is pre-occupied with research, community services, high-level manpower development which would invariably benefit the globalized social market.
