Program Summary
In general, the mission of the department is to prepare students to apply knowledge, abilities and values in promoting health, wholeness, and human potential in a complex, dynamic and innovative practice environment. Specifically, the programme is designed to:
? Expose the students to various disciplines and clinical settings.
? Orient students with realities of disease patterns and peculiarities among various age groups, genders and communities.
? Provide the nurse with a basic diagnostic skills required in the identification and solution of the clients/community health problems.
? Equip the students with the knowledge and skills to be able to plan, organize and evaluate appropriate health programmes. (promotive, preventive, creative and rehabilitative) in collaboration with other members of the health team in order to reduce mortality.
? Develop in the students, the spirits of team work in promoting health in all population groups in Nigeria and outside the country.
