Program Summary
Linguistics and French is a course that combines the scientific study of language with the practical and theoretical study of the French language. In linguistics, students explore how language works—covering areas like phonetics, syntax, semantics, morphology, and sociolinguistics. In the French component, students develop skills in reading, writing, speaking, and analyzing the French language and its literature, along with an understanding of Francophone cultures. This course equips students with strong language, analytical, and communication skills. Graduates can work in translation, interpretation, teaching, international relations, media, or pursue further studies in linguistics or foreign languages.
