Program Summary

Marine engineering is a specialized field of engineering focused on the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of ships, boats, and other marine vessels. It combines principles of mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering, specifically applied to the maritime industry. Students in marine engineering learn how to work with engines, propulsion systems, power generation, and other machinery that keep ships and offshore platforms functioning safely and efficiently. The course also covers aspects like fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, materials science, and environmental engineering, ensuring that future engineers can address challenges related to the sea, such as corrosion, sustainability, and energy efficiency. A key part of marine engineering education involves practical experience, often including internships or projects that allow students to apply their knowledge in real-world maritime environments.
