Program Summary

Social Work is a discipline that focuses on enhancing the well-being of individuals, families, groups, and communities through various forms of support and intervention. The course provides students with the knowledge and skills to address social issues such as poverty, mental health, substance abuse, child welfare, and domestic violence. It emphasizes the importance of understanding human behavior, the dynamics of social systems, and the impact of societal structures on individuals. Students learn about ethical practices, communication strategies, and the application of theoretical frameworks to real-world situations.

The curriculum typically combines classroom instruction with hands-on experience through fieldwork, where students gain practical knowledge by working directly with clients and communities. Social Work students explore the intersection of social justice, human rights, and advocacy, preparing them for roles in both public and private sectors, such as social service agencies, healthcare institutions, schools, and non-profit organizations. The course encourages a holistic approach to solving social problems by considering the psychological, social, economic, and cultural factors that influence individuals' lives. It aims to develop compassionate professionals who can make a positive impact by empowering vulnerable populations and advocating for systemic change.
