Program Summary

Private and property law as a course explores the legal principles governing relationships between individuals and their rights to own, use, and transfer property. It focuses on how private legal matters are resolved, including contracts, torts, and personal obligations, emphasizing the legal mechanisms available to individuals to protect their interests. The property law component examines different types of property—particularly real and personal property—and delves into topics such as ownership rights, land use, leases, easements, and the transfer of property through sale or inheritance. Students gain an understanding of how the law facilitates private transactions, resolves disputes, and balances competing interests in both personal and real property. The course often includes case analysis to illustrate how courts interpret and apply legal doctrines, encouraging critical thinking and legal reasoning skills.
