Program Summary

Agricultural Extension and Development Studies is a course that focuses on the dissemination of agricultural knowledge and innovations to farmers and rural communities. It explores how communication strategies, educational techniques, and policy frameworks can be used to promote agricultural development and improve livelihoods. The course examines the roles of extension agents, community organizers, and government institutions in facilitating change, adopting new technologies, and solving agricultural challenges. It often includes elements of rural sociology, economics, project planning, and sustainable development, aiming to build the capacity of students to work effectively in both local and international agricultural development contexts. Through both theoretical and practical approaches, students learn to engage with farmers, assess their needs, and design appropriate interventions that lead to increased productivity, food security, and rural empowerment.
