Program Summary

Quantity surveying is a discipline in the construction industry that focuses on cost management and financial control of construction projects. It involves estimating, budgeting, procurement, contract administration, and cost analysis to ensure that projects are completed within financial constraints. The course covers a range of subjects including construction technology, measurement of works, contract law, project management, and sustainable construction practices. 

 

Students learn how to prepare cost estimates, assess risks, manage contracts, and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. They also develop skills in negotiation, communication, and problem-solving, which are essential for working with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders. The course combines theoretical knowledge with practical applications, often involving site visits, case studies, and the use of industry-standard software. 

 

Graduates of quantity surveying programs can pursue careers as quantity surveyors, cost consultants, project managers, or contract administrators in construction firms, consulting companies, or government agencies. The profession offers opportunities to work on diverse projects such as residential buildings, commercial developments, infrastructure projects, and industrial facilities.

UTME REQUIREMENTS ; English, Mathematics, Physics and 2 from Chemistry, Technical Drawing, Geography, Economics, Biology, Further Mathematics DIRECT ENTRY REQUIREMENTS ; (i) ND/HND upper credit in Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Building (ii) A’Level Credit passes in Physics, Mathematics or Chemistry
