Program Summary

International Relations (IR) is an academic discipline that focuses on the study of interactions between sovereign states, international organizations, non-governmental actors, and multinational corporations on the global stage. The course examines the structures, processes, and dynamics that shape global politics, including diplomacy, conflict, cooperation, trade, and human rights. It explores key theories and concepts such as realism, liberalism, constructivism, and critical approaches to understanding international power, order, and justice. Students analyze issues like war, peace, international law, and global governance, while considering the role of institutions such as the United Nations and the World Trade Organization. By studying IR, learners develop a deeper understanding of the complexities of global issues, the influence of historical events, and the interconnectedness of nations in the modern world. The course encourages critical thinking about how states and non-state actors navigate the international system, manage conflicts, and pursue their interests in an ever-changing global environment.
