Program Summary

Private law as a course focuses on the legal relationships between individuals, businesses, and other private entities. It examines the rights, duties, and obligations that arise in personal and commercial interactions, distinguishing itself from public law, which governs the relationship between individuals and the state. The course covers key areas such as contract law, tort law, property law, family law, and corporate law, providing a foundation for understanding how private disputes are resolved.

Students explore the principles that regulate agreements, liability for harm, ownership rights, and legal frameworks for business entities. Emphasis is placed on case law analysis, statutory interpretation, and legal reasoning to develop problem-solving skills. The course also introduces dispute resolution mechanisms, including litigation, arbitration, and mediation, to address conflicts effectively.

By studying private law, students gain insights into the legal protections available to individuals and organizations, the enforcement of obligations, and the remedies provided when legal rights are infringed. The course is essential for those pursuing careers in legal practice, business, or any profession requiring a solid understanding of civil legal principles. Through practical examples and theoretical discussions, students develop the ability to analyze legal issues, apply legal concepts to real-world situations, and appreciate the role of private law in society.
